That’s how my local hosts, at dinner, described the town where I’ll be participating in a software engineering conference tomorrow. For those outside the U.S. (as well as oblivious Americans inside the border), blue = Democrat, and red = Republican. And while Austin is the state capital of Texas (as well as “home” state to George W. Bush), it’s also a very liberal college town. A veritable blueberry … in the middle of a watermelon patch.
The food was good, the wine was from out-of-state, the company at dinner was indeed enjoyable … and I’m outa here tomorrow night, taking my blueberries with me.
