I’ve been pretty busy these past couple of weeks, with several business trips hither, thither, and yon. As a result, my blogging activity has slipped a bit; and my blog-reading activity has also fallen behind.
I subscribe to roughly 50 blogs, using NetNewsWire, mostly because I find that the individual bloggers often have something thought-provoking, novel, or newsworthy to say; and then there are a few that I read just for fun, like Scott Adams’ “Dilbert” blog. And some are “composite” blogs, like the one that collects any blog posting, from anywhere among the 57 million bloggers worldwide, that have something to do with Web 2.0
On a typical day, I get 100-200 new blog articles; just by scanning through the subject line, I can eliminate 80-90% of them, but that still leaves roughly 10-40 blog articles that look sufficiently interesting and relevant that I click on them and skim them quickly. Of those, a small percentage are sufficiently noteworthy that I post them to my Ma.gnolia site, or incorporate them into my ever-growing Web 2.0 mind-map.
But it’s amazing how quickly one can become inundated: a few days ago, my backlog of unread blog postings passed the 600+ mark, and was still growing. I’ve been whittling it down, and as of a few minutes ago, I reached nirvana: zero unread blog postings. I’m sure that another 50-75 new postings will arrive overnight, but at least it’s under control …
… and with any luck, I’ll get back to regular blog-posting of my own tomorrow. I’ve got another update to my Web 2.0 mind-map, and some more chapters of Dreaming in Code to review, and … well, a bunch of other things.
Stay tuned…
