I’ve created yet another new version of my Web 2.0 mind-map; you can download the PDF file (3.2 megabytes) by surfing over to the www.yourdon.com/downloads area of my website, or by clicking here. (8/1: I’ve deleted version v015, and replaced it with version v016, which you can download here.)
I’ve added another ten items to the previous version of the mind-map:
- I’ve added an article about StumbleUpon to the “reputation economy” branch of the “Basic Themes” page of the mind-map.
- I’ve added a link to an article about mashup business models, as a sub-branch of the “mashups” branch in the “Basic Themes” page of the mind-map. For completeness, I added the same link to the “traditional companies” branch of th e “Business Issues” page of the mind-map.
- I’ve added a new link to Brad Feld’s blog posting that contains advice on venture capital economics for Web 2.0 companies, to the “Advice for startups” branch of the “Business Issues” page of the mind-map.
- I’ve added a link to a blog posting about Microsoft’s declaration that the PC era has ended, to the “Web services” sub-branch of the “other enabling technologies” branch of the “Technology” page of the mind-map.
- I added a new branch for “Tools/IDE’s” in the “Technology” page of the mind-map, and added Aptana as an example of a new IDE aimed at Web 2.0 development.
- I added a link to a YouTube page of user-generated advertisements developed for Kayak.com; it’s part of th e “provide ads and marketing” sub-sub-branch of the “customers” sub-branch of the “people power branch” on the “Cultural Issues” page of the mind-map.
- I added a link from an EDS blog-posting about the objectives of Web 2.0 tools, as a new sub-branch of the “Tools/IDE” branch in the Technology page of the mind-map.
- I added a link to Guy Kawasaki’s blog posting that provides a checklist for successful long-tail implementations, as part of the “advice and recommendations” branch on the Long Tail page of the mind-map.
- I added Tim O’Reilly’s blog posting about a hierarchy of Web 2.0-ness as part of the collection of definitions of what Web 2.0 is all about; this is part of the “definitions” branch on the “Introduction” page. Just for the heck of it, I also posted a mug shot of TIm, with a link to his bio page.
- I added Digg Stack, along with Digg Swarm, as a sub-branch of Digg on the “other products & small vendors” branch of the “Products and Vendors” page of the mind-map
Yes, there’s still more stuff to add, and new articles, product announcements, conferences, and blog postings are appearing every day on my Internet-wide scans for Web 2.0-related material … but, little by little, the mind-map is beginning to look more respectable. If nothing else, the current version now has 188 hyperlinks to various Web 2.0 resources, articles, and companies.
